Warming & Healing Drink
Ingredients
2cm piece fresh turmeric
2cm piece fresh ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2-3 cardamom pods
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon raw honey or maple syrup
pinch of black pepper
2 cups homemade or unsweetened almond milk (‘Inside Out’ brand is best)
Method
Grate the ginger and turmeric. Place all ingredients into a saucepan and heat gently over moderate heat for 3-4 minutes. Almond milk can burn easily so do not boil or simmer, just warm up. Using a sieve, strain the almond milk into a cup.
Thermomix method
Place turmeric and ginger into bowl and blend for 6 seconds/speed 6
Add remaining ingredients and heat for 4 minutes/90 degrees/speed 2
Strain through a sieve and either serve as is or to make into a latte consistency which is yummy, pour it back into the Thermomix and blend 30 seconds/speed 8

TURMERIC is my absolute favourite ancient healing spice which I prescribe regularly in my practice. One of the anti-inflammatory compounds in turmeric (curcumin) act similarly to NSAID’s (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) in the body, without the nasty side effects! Add fresh or ground turmeric to your diet daily, enjoy in beverages or there are concentrated therapeutic supplements available. I have fantastic results in pain reduction and healing for clients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease or any inflammatory condition.
